The Andalusian Council are using the population figures published by the National Institute of Statistics, so I have updated the population numbers to the following: Ayamonte 20,946, Isla Cristina 21,264, Lepe 27,431, Cartaya 19,974 and Villablanca 2,848.

Now the incidence rates are calibrated and Ayamonte is on the brink of passing the dreaded 1,000 per 100,000, exactly 974. Tomorrow is when the Andalusian council will revise the area restrictions and seeing the rise we have had over the last 5 days I honestly don’t think we will be under the 1000 mark. To explain better if Ayamonte has 6 more case than it had on the 6th of January we will be in the same level of restrictions as Isla Cristina.

Below are the incidence rates that I have calculated based on the figures published for the last 14 days in each of our local towns.

Today Andalusia reported 5,922 new cases. The number of Covid patients in Andalusian hospitals has jumped to 2,894 of which 406 are in intensive care. Huelva reported 462 cases and luckily no deaths in the last 24 hours.

Huelva now has 152 Covid patients in hospital and 14 of those are in intensive care. The pressure on all the Andalusian hospitals has increased by 256 in the last 24 hours. There is some good news 1,115 were declared cured today.

Ayamonte declared 36 positive cases in the last 24 hours which was more than double declared yesterday (15). It is fundamental that we all reduce our movement and try to stay at Stay home, Please only venture out for the essential matters/goods.

Remember if you do meet up there is now a maximum of four people together. If you are in close contact with someone that has tested positive you are obliged to isolate for 10 days. Close contact is less than 2 metres from this person for more than 15 minutes. And that is 15 minutes over a 24-hour period. If you have any doubts or questions you can email me or send me a whatsapp on six66524646 and I will do my best to guide you. Stay safe folks
