There have been a total of 2,833 new cases declared today and the total confirmed cases now at 19,980. The number of patients in intensive care is 1,141 and the number of deaths has now reached 1,002. The number of people who have recovered is 1,585

Meanwhile in Andalusia there are 1,287 confirmed cases of which 367 are in hospital 38 are intensive care and 890 are in quarantine and there have been 30 deaths (Malaga 17, Jaen 2, Granada 10, Seville 1). In Seville there are 190 cases with 64 of those in hospital, the remaining 125 are in quarantine in their own homes, 1 death while 1 has been cured.

In Huelva there are 36 cases, this being an increase of 13 new cases today, 13 are in hospital and 23 are in quarantine in their own homes.

72 patients have now been sent home from hospital in Andalucia to pass the rest of their quarantine in their own homes.

The Junta de Andalucia also announced today two contingency plans which will be activated when Andalusia reaches 9,000 confirmed cases and another should we reach 15,000 cases. With these plans they will use hotels, mainly to deal with the patients who are positive but don't need intensive medical care or are recovering. Under the plans they will activate 7,430 health care workers (3,378 doctors and 4,052 nurses).

The Junta have declared that they have been working on these plans for over a month and according to their statistics if they reach 9,000 cases there will be 2,026 people hospitalised of which 610 will be in intensive care. If we reach 15,000 cases here will be 2,970 people hospitalised of which 890 will be in intensive care.

To cope with the surge in patients both public and private hospitals will be activated and all private and public clinics as well as old folks homes so they will have a capacity or beds for 20,672. Hostels and youth centres and hotels will also carry an overflow ofpatients so that the final number of beds available will be 26,097. Hotels which are to be medicalised will make 1,175 beds available of which 50 will be made available in Huelva.

Jesus Aguirre the minister for Health & Families for the Junat de Andalucia said that there will be over 1100 ventilators available for patients. " We have to be prepared for the worst and when you prepare for the worst and it doesn't happen then that will be fantastic, we are prepared and we will continue to be ready".

Meanwhile in Ayamonte the labours of disinfecting the streets has intensified both in the town and in the neighbourhoods of Canela and Costa Esuri.
